Basic Cheese Sauce Recipe

This taste cheese sauce works with steak, veggies or any other dish asking for cheese.

INGREDIENTS

2 Tbsps Butter
2 Tbsps Whole-grain Wheat Flour
3 Tbsps NESTLÉ Klim Full Cream Instant Milk Powder
1 cup Boiled Water
Salt to Taste
1 cup Grated Cheese

METHOD

Mix the NESTLÈ KLIM Full Cream Instant Milk Powder together with one cup of boiled water. Stir very well to ensure there are no lumps. Set aside.
In a medium pot over a low heat, add two tablespoons of butter and allow it to melt fully.
Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the Whole-grain Wheat Flour. Place the pot back on the heat and whisk for 20 seconds to form a paste.
Very slowly, start whisking in the mixture of milk powder and water ¼ cup at a time. Bring the white sauce to a boil, while whisking constantly. The sauce should start to thicken. TIP: Ensure you get into the corners to avoid lumps from forming. When the sauce reaches boiling point, allow to cook for 30 more seconds, while stirring.
Add a cup of grated cheese to the warm white sauce and stir until melted. Promptly remove it from the heat. TIP: Use block cheese as opposed to pre-shredded cheese. The pre-shredded cheese contains preservatives to keep it from clumping together which in turn can leave your sauce with lumps or an overly stringy texture.
Add salt to taste and remove the pot from the heat. Feel free to add more seasoning or spices you enjoy!
Lastly, serve with anything your hungry heart desires! TIP: If you want to reheat this sauce at a later stage and find that the consistency is too thick, you can add chicken stock or water. For a creamier texture, add more milk.
